Collective labour agreement (cao)

A collective labour agreement, known in Dutch as a collectieve arbeidsovereenkomst or cao, is a written agreement between employers and trade unions setting out the terms and conditions of employment. A cao covers matters such as salary scales, working hours, leave entitlements, and notice periods. Employers in the childcare sector are typically bound by the cao Kinderopvang, which sets the salary scales for both qualified staff and trainees.
