The statutory minimum wage (wettelijk minimumloon) is the lowest gross wage that an employer in the Netherlands is legally required to pay an employee aged 21 or over. From 1 January 2024 the statutory minimum wage was converted to a minimum hourly wage of €13.27 per hour, regardless of the number of hours the employee works per week. The minimum wage is adjusted twice a year based on average wage developments in the Netherlands. Employees under 21 are entitled to a lower minimum youth wage that varies by age category.
