Independence requirement (home workspace)

The independence requirement is one of the conditions for deducting home workspace costs as an entrepreneur. The workspace must be clearly recognisable as an independent space with its own entrance and its own sanitary facilities, so the space could theoretically also be rented out or made available to a third party. A desk in the living room or bedroom does not meet the independence requirement. Most entrepreneurs resolve this by converting a garage or adding an extension.
