Allowances & benefits

Government allowances

Allowances (toeslagen) are government contributions for lower-income households to cover essential costs: healthcare (zorgtoeslag), rent (huurtoeslag), childcare (kinderopvangtoeslag) and children (kindgebonden budget). As a self-employed person you may also be entitled to allowances depending on your income and assets. If your income changes during the year, update your allowances promptly to avoid repayments.
