Freelancer (zzp-er)

A freelancer (zzp-er) is a self-employed person who works without employees, typically through a sole tradership. Freelancers take on assignments for clients and are responsible for their own tax, insurance and pension. The Tax Authority assesses whether you are genuinely self-employed or effectively an employee (false self-employment). The VBAR law is tightening the criteria for genuine self-employment.
