Collection interest

Collection interest (invorderingsrente) is the interest the Tax Authority charges when you pay a tax assessment late. The current rate is 4% per year. This differs from tax interest (belastingrente), which arises when you file late or when a supplementary assessment follows an earlier return. Always pay assessments on time to avoid collection interest. If you cannot pay, contact the Tax Authority to arrange an instalment plan.
